Born in 1990 in Bourg-la-Reine, France.

My-Lan Hoang-Thuy creates her own support from acrylic drips that she dries. Then she paints and prints images and mixes different techniques. In each of these steps, the artist provokes the accident in order to obtain a spontaneous and imperfect result. The chosen format is close to that of standard paper and yet escapes from it. Small, it invites the viewer to approach it to dive into the artist's imagination. My-Lan's series bear the imprint of her family history, between traditional Vietnamese aesthetics, with its colors, materials, and curvilinear forms; and references to the history of art that marked her studies at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. It is particularly the late 19th Century that fascinates the artist, with an interest in the Nabis perceptible in his productions.

My-Lan Hoang-Thuy graduated in Arts Appliqué from the Ecole Duperré (2015) and the Beaux-arts de Paris (2018). In 2018, she was nominated for the Prix des Amis des Beaux-Arts, won the Graduate Photography Award and then exhibited at the Salon de Montrouge. She participated in the Artpress Biennial of Young Artists at the Museum of Modern Art in Saint-Etienne in 2020. In 2022, the exhibition "Belle Orchidée, Pissenlit Passable" marks the start of a collaboration between the artist and the Galerie Mitterrand. It is continued at the end of the year by a group show called "Cloud Point" in London as well as by a residency at the Domaine du Muy. Invited by Simon Baker, My-Lan Hoang-Thuy had her first solo exhibition in an institution, the MEP, in 2023.
